How NFL Free Agency Can Affect The NFC Championship Odds

  • The NFC Championship future odds are already available for the 2020-2021 season.
  • The San Francisco 49ers are current favorites to repeat as NFC Champions.
  • NFL free agency and the NFL Draft may affect odds.

SAN FRANCISCO - The NFC Championship futures odds are already available for sports bettors ahead of the NFL free agency period. The San Francisco 49ers are current favorites to take the NFC again, as they kept the core of their team following a trip to the Super Bowl.

Teams like the Dallas Cowboys with a new coach and the Green Bay Packers may be able to shake things up and take the championship with longshot odds.

The New Orleans Saints and the Philadelphia Eagles have the second and third shortest odds to win, showing that sports bettors are also looking in their direction leading to possible upsets.

NFC Championship Hopefuls

The teams with the best odds to win the NFC are the Niners, the Saints, and the Eagles.

NFC Championship Futures:

  • San Francisco 49ers +450
  • New Orleans Saints +550
  • Philadelphia Eagles +700
  • Green Bay Packers +800
  • Seattle Seahawks +800
  • Dallas Cowboys +1000
  • Minnesota Vikings +1200
  • Los Angeles Rams +1300
  • Chicago Bears +1300
  • Atlanta Falcons +2000
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +2500
  • Carolina Panthers +3000
  • Detroit Lions +3500
  • New York Giants +4000
  • Arizona Cardinals +4000
  • Washington Redskins +6000

San Francisco is hoping to redeem themselves and claim a Super Bowl next season. Word around the league is that the Niners are looking to shake things at the QB position, looking to move on from current QB Jimmy Garoppolo and sign six-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady.

"It's ludicrous," said 49ers RB Jeff Wilson Jr. "He just took us all the way to the Super Bowl, great season, 14 wins. I mean there's not a lot of quarterbacks that's even in this league that just had a season like that. And then you go from that season taking a team all the way to the Super Bowl, to talks of being traded.”

When addressing the potential of losing Garoppolo for Brady, Wilson also went on to say "He's a great quarterback, he's been that way ever since he's been to San Fran. It's just unfortunate that he got hurt the year before and then kind of, you know, threw him back in the wilderness a little bit but he came right back in like he never left and took a team all the way to the Super Bowl, so how can you talk about moving him? Or trading him to another team?"

If Brady does join the 49ers, their favorited odds may improve even more as Brady has been to and won more Super Bowls than any player currently in the league.

A longshot team to look out for in claiming the NFC would be the Dallas Cowboys as with new head coach Mike McCarthy the Cowboys hope to take the next step. McCarthy has previously won a Super Bowl as the Green Bay Packers head coach during the 2010-2011 season.

But, the Dallas QB position is also in the balance as they have yet to come to an agreement with Dak Prescott. If the Cowboys manage to secure Dak, with a new coach and offensive system, the Cowboys odds to win the NFC championship and Super Bowl odds should be carefully analyzed.

Bettors may want to wait and see how the NFL Draft and free agency affect the odds to win the NFC Championship before betting on the favored Niners or dark horse Cowboys.
