What Are Super Bowl Futures Betting Odds?
Super Bowl LVIII futures betting odds are a bettor’s way to lock in a wager on a team they believe will win the Super Bowl well before the game’s kickoff. Futures odds are posted immediately following the previous year’s event, meaning some bettors have already locked in their 2024 Super Bowl champion. Depending on when a bettor lays down their money, the odds can fluctuate greatly from week to week, but whatever odds the bettor submits are kept at the level until the wager is graded. Waiting until the draft and free agency is wise, but big news can severely alter the betting odds for Super Bowl 58.

Betting The Super Bowl MVP
The Super Bowl MVP is the utmost recognition for any athlete playing in the Championship Game. Sportsbooks list the players they believe will have a chance at performing so well in the match that they’ll win the award. Over the years, quarterbacks have dominated the award receiving 32 of the 57 awards, but they are not the only ones that can receive the honors. Other positions that have won the award include wide receivers, running backs, and even linebackers. The current Super Bowl 58 MVP betting odds do favor the quarterbacks but get right into receivers after.
How Do Super Bowl Betting Odds And Lines Move?
In general, Super Bowl futures odds are usually posted around Super Bowl time the season before. Those odds shift all throughout the year depending on offseason moves, injuries that might occur in the preseason or regular season, and based on the team's performance overall. The Philadelphia Eagles are a prime example of this after their SB57 odds opened at +4000 and got cut to under +1000 after just 8 weeks. As teams started to get eliminated from the playoffs then, their odds got shorter and shorter toward the seasons' end.
Betting The Super Bowl Point Spread
Betting the spread means you’re wagering on a team to lose or win by however many points the sportsbook has put up. For example, during the 2023 Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles were favorites by 1.5 points. Those that might’ve bet on them would have needed them to win by at least 2 points over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Super Bowl Betting Odds For The Over Under
This is a combined total of points from both teams for the entire game, including overtime. Bettors will select whether more or fewer points will be scored by selecting the "over or the "under". Oddsmakers try to refrain from using whole numbers as this could result in a "push" with nobody winning the Super Bowl bet. For example, Super Bowl LIII had the highest over-under in Super Bowl history. At 58 points, bettors were to select which side it landed on. Those who took the under were successful, as only 16 combined points were scored.

What Are Public Betting Splits For The Super Bowl?
Public betting splits on the Super Bowl are split into two aspects, the percentage of bets placed and the percentage of money (handle) that is being bet on a specific side. You can use these to either follow the public on their bets or fade the public and be one the few to cash if the heavy action fails. Something that is worth noting though is that public betting action can have an impact on Super Bowl betting lines throughout the week. An example of this would be if the spread for a game opened at -2.5 for Team A, but Team B saw 75% of the betting handle and 85% of the bets placed forcing the line to shift down to -1.5 or even -1. That being said, if you have a guy feeling about one side early on, it is smart to take it early before the lines potentially shift.
What Is Super Bowl Line Shopping?
Super Bowl line shopping is where you compare the odds on the Super Bowl between multiple sportsbooks and you bet on the one that offers the biggest payout. An example of this would be if BetOnline had the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl odds listed at +700 while FanDuel had them at +500. You would look to wake the odds at BetOnline rather than FanDuel being that a $100 bet pays you out $700 rather than the $500 at FanDuel.
AFC Championship Betting Odds
AFC Championship odds are typically available soon after initial Super Bowl odds are released. Super Bowl bettors will have the option to either select one specific team to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, or they may bet on the specific division within the conference that will win the AFC Championship. For teams in top-heavy divisions that clearly stand out, it can be beneficial to bet them straight up, but in the most loaded divisions, it can be safer to bet the division as a whole to take home the AFC crown.
- Kansas City Chiefs +320
- Buffalo Bills +380
- Cincinnati Bengals +480
- Los Angeles Chargers +1125
- New York Jets +1300

NFC Championship Betting Odds
NFC Championship betting works the same way as AFC Championship betting. Betting on the NFC winner has been incredibly challenging over the years, as no team has repeated as conference champions since the 2014 and 2015 Seattle Seahawks teams that were highlighted by the Legion of Boom. With the Eagles (+1100) winning the NFC Championship in 2022-23, it now makes it eight years running that the representative of the NFC went into the season with longer than +550 odds. Odds for the NFC Championship can be bet on all year round from the moment the Super Bowl is finished from the year prior.
- San Francisco 49ers +310
- Philadelphia Eagles +330

Super Bowl Teams That Crushed The Spread
Of the 14 Super Bowls that have seen a spread of 10 points or more, seven teams covered that margin. That includes the largest spread in Super Bowl history in 1995 when the San Francisco 49ers were 18.5-point favorites over the San Diego Chargers and won the game by 23 points.

Preseason Odds For Past Super Bowl Winners
Although the Kansas City Chiefs opened as the preseason favorite to win Super Bowl 58, past Super Bowls show that the favorite is hardly ever the winner. Many teams have long odds for Super Bowl 58, that were in the same position as the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2022-23 season, winning it with +1000 preseason odds.

Betting On A Perfect Season
While some might think that betting on a perfect season only includes betting on a team to go undefeated in the regular season, there is much more to it than just that. Sure you can bet on a team to go an undefeated 17-0 in the regular season, but you can also bet on a team to go 20-0 meaning that’d win every game in the regular season and go on to win the Super Bowl.
Only two teams have gone undefeated in the regular season in the 1972 Miami Dolphins and 2007 New England Patriots. Both teams went on to play in the Super Bowl, but the Dolphins remain the only team to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. The two teams to keep an eye on in the 2022-23 season are the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they have the highest win total at 11.5.
There is another form of betting on a perfect season and that is to bet on a team to go a defeated 0-17 in the regular season. A team has gone a perfect defeated season on five separate occasions with the most recent ones being the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns. The remaining teams came before 1985. This season, both the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans are in the hot seat as they have 4.5-win totals.

Betting On Exact Super Bowl 58 Matchups
Betting on the Super Bowl has always been exciting, but placing wagers on the exact Super Bowl matchups incases the excitement and payouts of the bet. These Super Bowl odds are usually posted sometime throughout the regular season and offer huge payouts. An exact Super Bowl 57 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs had +100000 odds.

Super Bowl 58 (LVIII) FAQs
What Teams Were The Strongest Super Bowl Favorites?
Not many teams can say that they opened up the preseason with the shortest odds to win the Super Bowl and go on to win the championship. The 1994 San Francisco 49ers owned the shortest preseason odds at +200 and went on to win the Super Bowl. The 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers owned the second shortest preseason odds with +240 and won as well. The 1988 49ers and 1995 Dallas Cowboys follow close behind as they opened their seasons with +300 Super Bowl odds.
Who Was The Biggest Preseason Longshot To Win The Super Bowl?
The former Los Angeles Rams, St. Louis Rams, had the longest preseason odds of any team that went on to win the Super Bowl. This came in 1999 when they went 13-3 following an awful 4-12 year in 1998. Opening at +15000, it is clear to see why their their odds opened up so long.
