Longshot AFC Championship Odds To Bet Before Free Agency

  • The Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans have +1600 odds to win the AFC Championship.
  • The Kansas City Chiefs have the shortest odds to win the AFC at +300 odds.
  • The Tennessee Titans are listed at +1200 odds to win the AFC Championship.

HOUSTON – The AFC has elite teams at the top with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs (+300) and Baltimore Ravens (+330) pacing the Conference at the odds board.

Betting on AFC Championship odds this early could be one of the most profitable bets made all season. Outside of the Chiefs and Ravens odds, there are three teams with longshot odds that are worth the dice roll before the NFL heads into free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft begins.

Tennessee Titans (+1200)

2019 Record: 9-7

Sitting at +1200 odds isn’t a bad place to be for the Tennessee Titans who were one game away from Super Bowl 54 last season.

The Titans were a completely different team once Ryan Tannehill took over the QB position for Marcus Mariota. The switch at quarterback made it easier for Derrick Henry to find running lanes because teams could no longer stack the box on the Titans.

En route to last year’s AFC Championship Game, the Titans beat the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens as the road team which is no easy feat. They lost to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, but they proved they can compete with any team in the AFC.

The Titans will bring back most of their roster from last season, but Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill are free agents this offseason. Bringing Tannehill and Henry back is one of the top offseason priorities for the Titans. If just Henry re-signs with the Titans, it will likely cause Tennessee’s odds to win the AFC Championship to become shorter. That’s why taking the Titans +1200 odds right now is a risk worth taking.

Houston Texans (+1600)

2019 Record: 10-6

The Houston Texans have one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL in Deshaun Watson and in his young career he’s proven capable of leading Houston to victory on his own. Despite stellar play from Watson the Texans still need to address issues along their offensive line and secondary.

If they address these problems in free agency or the Draft, the Texans could easily become one of the most dominant teams in the AFC. Even with the glaring holes the +1600 odds that Texans are listed at makes them one of the better teams with longshot odds to place a bet on.

Houston will only have competition in the AFC South from the Tennessee Titans. Other than that, they should make the playoffs for the third straight season. Keep an eye on their odds especially if they make a trade for a running back to take some of the pressure off Watson.

Either way, the Texans odds are one of the best values on the AFC Championship odds board right now.

Buffalo Bills (+1600)

2019 Record: 10-6

The Buffalo Bills were one of the most surprising teams from last season as they bounced back from a 6-10 record the previous year.

Led by second-year quarterback Josh Allen, Buffalo’s AFC Championship odds at +1600 could be a steal by the end at the end of the season. However, the Bills odds correlate directly with what happens with the New England Patriots and Tom Brady.

The Bills had one of the stingiest defenses in the NFL and that’ll be the engine that drives this team.

Buffalo will be one of the teams expected to leap from good to great this year and playing in a weak AFC East division will help get them in the playoffs but they’ll need to add another playmaker at the wide receiver position to help aid an offense that can become stagnant at times.

Taking the Bills at +1600 odds is a greater risk than betting on the Texans or Titans but that shouldn’t stop any bettor from testing their AFC Championship odds this early.
