Cam Newton’s Next Team Odds, Analysis And Picks

  • The Washington Redskins have the shortest odds to land Cam Newton.
  • The Denver Broncos and New England Patriots are tied for the second shortest odds to acquire Cam Newton.
  • The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers also made the cut.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After being cut by the Carolina Panthers, Cam Newton is now on the free agency market. Any team that he lands with, he will make an immediate impact as he is a former NFL MVP.

The Washington Redskins lead the odds for acquiring Cam Newton. The Denver Broncos and New England Patriots are tied at second place on the odds board to land him. The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers are also contenders for his services but are more of longshots at this point.

Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins surprisingly lead the odds board at signing Cam Newton at +200. This is eye-opening as there is not really a need for him there since the team already has two quarterbacks who are capable of starting. They have Dwayne Haskins who they drafted last year and Kyle Allen who they acquired from the Panthers.

It would be a questionable move for sure as they would then have three quarterbacks who have starting-caliber talent. Besides, signing Cam is the least of their issues as they have a boatload of problems they need to attend to before next season.

Even though they lead the odds board, it would likely be safe for bettors not to waste time or money on the Redskins.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are tied for second in the odds board at +300. They could be a potential landing spot for the former MVP as they have a bit of confusion going on at the quarterback position right now.

They just released Joe Flacco leaving them with just Drew Lock who is somewhat of a starting-caliber quarterback. Cam Newton would solidify their needs at the position as he would bring in a much-needed leadership and motivation presence to their locker room.

They would be a solid bet for a team that looked lost last season.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are the second team that has +300 odds to sign Cam Newton. They could be higher on the list being that they do not have a starting quarterback after Tom Brady’s departure.

Cam would help modernize this team as he is a mobile quarterback and that seems to be the direction that the league is going now.

Signing Newton would be beneficial to both sides as it would help the Patriots stay afloat of the AFC East and it would give Newton a chance to redeem himself under arguably the greatest coach of all time. This could be a safe bet for bettors as the Pats are still looking for answers under center.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins currently sit at +400 odds to sign Newton. Miami is in a bit of a confusing situation as they have made all the right moves during the offseason to try and turn things around but they still have not made their draft plans clear.

They obviously need a quarterback if they want to make a full rebuild, but recent reports have shown confusion between Miami and Tua Tagovailoa, who they’ve shown interest in before.

Being that they are still in rebuild mode, they really don’t have anything to lose if they were to sign Cam. It could be a safe bet for bettors but do not consider this to be a better bet over the Patriots.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers currently have +500 odds but do not let this fool bettors. Out of all the teams on this list, the Chargers would be one of the better fits, so it is surprising that they do not have shorter odds. Right now, they are banking on Tyrod Taylor to step in as the starter, but for a team that is looking to turn things around, this is a stretch of a decision.

Newton would be a good fit in LA as they already have a reliable offense. All they are missing is a starting quarterback. The Bolts would be a great underdog bet as Newton would fit their system well.
