Miami Weather Is No Match For Super Bowl 54 Partygoers

  • The Miami rain caused some Super Bowl events to be called off.
  • The weather is being closely monitored for the actual Super Bowl game.
  • Security measures were raised by Miami officials.

MIAMI - With Super Bowl LIV only a few hours away, partygoers got a taste of the true Miami weather. The tropical weather shouldn't fool locals, as Miami weather can take a turn at any given moment. However, that did not stop partygoers down on South Beach.

Events That Were Called Off

Of all the events that were planned in Miami during the Super Bowl, only a couple took a hit due to the inclement weather.

One of them being Harry Styles concert which was to be held in the Meridian at Island Gardens. Due to the heavy rain, the Miami Beach Fire Department had called off Styles performance as the hit singer had posted on his Twitter account.

Other than Harry Styles's performance, the Fox Sports Super Bowl Experience took a minor hit as some of the events being held were places outside of the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Other Events That Welcomed The Wet Weather

Being that the Miami weather can change at the blink of an eye, most Super Bowl events went on as scheduled.

One of those events being “Shaq’s fun house” hosted by the 4-time NBA Champion, Shaquille O'Neal. O'Neal put together quite the events with headliners such as the Miami native, Pitbull as well as DJ sets from Diplo and Carnage. Even Shaq himself put on a DJ set going by his DJ name “Diesel.”

Another event that took place was the highly anticipated  “Gronk Beach” festival which was hosted by former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski, like O’neal, put together another star power music lineup headlined by another Miami native in Rick Ross.

There were reports of light rain coming in and out during both Shaq and Gronkowski’s events.

Security Measures

With all of the events and tourism taking place on South Beach, security was not taken lightly.

Miami officials wasted no time placing security officials throughout the city. Homeland Security officers were seen in three major spots: Miami International Airport, Ft. Lauderdale Airport and onboard the Miami Metro Mover. Other than these spots, officers could be seen throughout the city making safety their number one priority.

Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers, as well as general Miami visitors should feel protected with so many security measures being taken. The only thing fans, bettors, and others might be worried about is the unpredictable Miami weather.
