Can Lamar Jackson Lead The NFL In Rushing? Odds Breakdown

  • Lamar Jackson currently has +3500 odds to lead the league in rushing for the 2020 season.
  • As a quarterback, Jackson was able to record 1,206 rushing yards in his MVP season last year.

BALTIMORE, Md.Lamar Jackson is undoubtedly the best dual-threat quarterback in the NFL right now. His ability to run is unmatched when it comes to other QBs. But what about against other running backs?

Odds have been listed for who is going to lead the league in rush yards and Lamar Jacksons’ odds might seem a bit long given how electrifying that aspect of his game was last season.

Lamar Jackson Odds

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Lamar Jackson, has been putting the league on notice as he has been on a tear during his first two years. He has put an emphasis on what a rushing quarterback can do in the NFL and is single-handedly changing the game.

Jackson had a great year running the ball as he rushed for a total of 1,206 yards which was sixth-best in the league. Being that he was that high up on the rushing leaders list, his odds on NFL betting sites to lead the league in rushing seem like a longshot at +3500 odds.

These odds are definitely surprising odds as he recorded more rushing yards than some of the league’s best running backs. Lamar Jackson rushed for more yards than Dalvin Cook (1,135), Aaron Jones (1,084) and Leonard Fournette (1,152).

Jackson’s odds could surely be taken despite the longshot scenario. With the Ravens having selected running back J.K. Dobbins from the draft and Mark Ingram still on the roster, the Ravens rushing attack could be the team’s first priority. This is an area that Jackson could help bolster as well.

Other Notable Odds

Lamar Jacksons rushing yards should take nothing away from those that are at the top of the odds board. Derrick Henry, Christian McCaffrey, and Nick Chubb are the top three options right now.

Henry leads with +500 odds and deservingly. He put on a clinic in the 2019 season with 1,540 yards and tied for a league-best 16 touchdowns. However, given how many times Henry is asked to rush per game, the wear and tear may cause him to be sidelined, leaving room for other backs to catch his trail.

McCaffrey follows Henry with +750 odds. Despite being on one of the weakest teams in the league, he still managed to put up 1,387 yards and 15 touchdowns. But, McCaffery is also very much utilized in the pass game, which could take away from his rushing yards total.

Chubb is not far behind McCaffrey with +950 odds. Chubb had just under 1,500 yards with 1,494 yards and eight touchdowns and is looking to follow up his yardage in the 2020 season. However, he will have to rely on new offensive lineman to do so.
