Don’t Bet On Mahomes, Hill To Have Explosive Game Versus Texans

  • Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill are the favorites to finish the divisional round with the most passing and receiving yards.
  • After the strong play of the Houston Texans as of late, sports bettors have plenty of better options to choose from.
  • A total of four games will be played for the divisional round of the NFL playoffs – two on Saturday and two on Sunday.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After the loss of the New England Patriots, the crown for the AFC is up in the air. While the Baltimore Ravens are the top seed and have home-field advantage, many teams have overlooked the second-seeded Kansas City Chiefs, who have seemed to have found their groove again.

With a healthy Patrick Mahomes, there is nothing this Chiefs team cannot do. Paired with Tyreek Hill on the outside, this deadly duo has combined for over 2,100 yards over the last two seasons despite missing a few games together due to injuries and suspensions.

However, as they are together again in their upcoming divisional battle against the Houston Texans, oddsmakers at online sports betting sites have listed prop bets for the NFL divisional round.  Two of the ones that stand out the most feature this quarterback and receiver duo, which they are both favorites for as well.

Who Will Finish The Divisional Round With The Most Passing Yards?

Mahomes has only played in two playoff games in his career. Still, the reigning NFL MVP has rarely ever had a bad game in his career – regular- or postseason. With this, Mahomes (+125) is the favorite to take this crown.

In his previous two playoff games last season, Mahomes finished between 25-300 yards in both matchups. Attempting 72 passes over the two-game span, Mahomes is the clear favorite for a reason.

NFL Passing

Four other quarterbacks are listed with odds that are still favorable but well behind the leader in Mahomes. Betting on Aaron Rodgers (+550) or Jimmy Garoppolo (+550) to pass for the most yards in the upcoming round of the playoffs may reward bettors with an excellent payout, though.

Additionally, Russell Wilson (+600) and Kirk Cousins (+650) round out the top 5, with the three others ranging in odds from +800 to +1400.

However, betting on Mahomes may not be the best decision, as their opponent in the Houston Texans have seemed to lock-in defensively over the recent weeks. After allowing 321 passing yards to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, the Texans have held opposing quarterbacks to under 300 passing yards in seven of the ten games. Two of those games saw opposing quarterbacks finish with just over 300 yards (301 and 303).

With this, taking a flier seems to be the best opportunity presented.

Who Will Finish The Divisional Round With The Most Receiving Yards?

Looking at the receiving yards NFL betting prop, many may be quick to rule out Hill after they understand the recent strength of the Texan’s defense. Tied with Davante Adams with +350 odds to finish the week at the top spot, Tyreek Hill may not reward bettors with the best play here either.

Sitting further down the list are plenty of players who can hit the mark and their payouts would be much greater. When betting on the Super Bowl  and other NFL playoffs props, bettors should always be aware of the best value as well.

NFL Receiving

With this, look into laying some money on D.K. Metcalf (+950) or AJ Brown (+750) instead.

Metcalf and Brown are the only two receivers (still in the playoffs) who had at least a dozen targets in one of their last three regular-season games. While they both only appeared at this mark once, Adams made the over-a-dozen-targets list in all three weeks.

With this, betting on Hill to lead the week in receiving yards seems like a wasted bet and that Adams should be the clear favorite.

Regardless of how the week plays out, be sure to get all of the NFL betting wagers in before Saturday’s 4:35 p.m. EST kickoff.
