Could Nick Foles Be On His Way Out Of Jax? Oddsmakers Weigh In

  • Nick Foles and Gardner Minshew will compete for the starting quarterback position in Jacksonville.
  • The Colts and Eagles could be in the market for Foles.
  • Three teams have longshot odds of landing him which include the Bucs, Bears, and Chargers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — With the rise of rookie sensation Gardner Minshew, questions have been surrounding the future of Nick Foles on the Jacksonville Jaguars. They will compete for the starting position sometime this offseason.

If Foles were to be on his way out, the Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could all be in the market to land the 2017 Super Bowl MVP.

Staying In Jacksonville

Despite all of the rumors surrounding the starting position in Jacksonville, both Foles and Minshew are set to compete to find out who will be starting under center for the Jags this year.

If he does win, great, he would have a chance to prove his doubters wrong and prove he is worth a four-year $88 million contract. If he loses, Jacksonville could still benefit with Foles on the bench as he is a former Super Bowl MVP and could help Minshew develop.

Foles odds of remaining in Jacksonville lead the board at -110.

Colts/Eagles Return?

The Colts could be in the market for a new quarterback as they do not view Jacoby Brissett as a long term option after an inconsistent season.

Indianapolis has been linked to a few other quarterbacks, however, including Tom Brady. If they miss out on Brady though, Foles could be a solid place holder until they find the guy they’re looking for.

Then there is always the possibility of Foles working out as a long-term option. Fans really haven’t seen much of Foles since 2016 as he has only started 13 games since then. A fresh start could be what he needs to prove himself. NFL betting sites have the Colts odds at +325 to land Foles.

The Eagles really should be considered a longshot option of bringing Foles back to the City of Brotherly Love. If they were to bring him back, it would more than likely be a respect factor as he did bring them a Super Bowl in 2017.

He would most likely come off the bench as Carson Wentz would remain the starter unless he, unfortunately, gets injured again. The Eagles odds of bringing back the Super Bowl MVP are at +600.

+650 Club: Three Teams Have +650 Odds Of Landing Nick Foles

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers recently parted ways with their longtime franchise quarterback Philip Rivers. In doing so they enter the quarterback market.

There have been rumors surrounding the vacant position with one of them being that they could turn to last year’s backup Tyrod Taylor.

They have also been linked back to Tom Brady as well. A few pieces would need to fall into place for the Bolts to turn their heads to Foles.

Chicago Bears

If there is one team in this club that should not be here it should be the Bears. The Bears have yet to give up on Mitch Trubisky as they’ve recently expressed interest in bringing in a veteran quarterback to back him up and see if they can light a spark under him. Who better than Nick Foles for this?

To not play a whole season and start every game in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl should be enough for the Bears to give him a chance.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs should have lower than +650 odds as they still have not yet decided on the future of Jameis Winston. They have also been linked to Philip Rivers anyways. If they do miss out on Rivers, Foles would be an interesting fit in Tampa as they have the pieces to be a lethal offensive team.
