Betting Odds For Travis Etienne’s Season Totals Are Out Now

  • Travis Etienne’s total rushing yards are set at 624.5 for his rookie season.
  • Etienne is favored to have fewer rushing yards and touchdowns than fellow rookie running back Javonte Williams.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Travis Etienne in the first round of the NFL draft.

Recent reports say that Etienne has been playing wide receiver in practice, but betting props are available for his rushing totals.

Travis Etienne Rushing Yards: O/U 624.5

The move of the Jaguars taking Etienne in the first round wasn’t very well received by fans, especially because undrafted free agent James Robinson ran for over 1,000 yards in his rookie campaign. He joins a crowded running back room with not only Robinson but Carlos Hyde as well.

Etienne’s rushing total seems a bit high considering all the factors. Robinson established himself as a bell-cow type RB, there’s also a veteran in Carlos Hyde competing for carries and now we’ve learned that Etienne is taking reps at wide receiver.

It’s possible that Etienne gets enough volume to hit this mark, but online sportsbooks may be overestimating his ability to take reps away from Robinson who finished fifth in rushing yards a season ago.

Travis Etienne Rushing Yard Total Betting Odds

  • Over 624.5 -115
  • Under 624.5 -115

Will Etienne Have More Rushing Yards Than Javonte Williams?

Etienne is a +110 underdog to have more rushing yards than Javonte Williams. Williams is in a better position to get more carries than Etienne, only having competition from a past-his-prime Melvin Gordan and Royce Freeman.

Williams’ betting total for rushing yards is set at 749.5, over 100 yards higher than Etienne’s. Given that Williams’ odds to have more yards than Etienne is set at -150, it may be worth betting on just based on the sportsbook’s projections alone.

More Rushing Yards: Etienne or Williams

  • Etienne +110
  • Williams -150

Will Etienne Have More TDs Than Williams?

The rushing yards number is favored in Williams’ direction, but the total touchdowns odds are set much more closely. Assuming that Etienne does get some reps at WR, it gives him some extra chances to find himself in the end zone.

It’s always tough to predict who will be the goal line back or vulture touchdowns, which is likely why the odds like the way they do.

More Total TDs: Etienne or Williams

  • Etienne -110
  • Williams -130

When it comes to rushing yards, it largely comes down to volume. However, when it comes to touchdowns, it’s more up in the air. Williams still likely gets more volume and is likely on a better offense and therefore is deserving of being the betting favorite.

NFL bettors who feel strongly that Etienne will either win the starting job or just have a more impressive season than people think can jump all over these props and get some good prices while doing so.
