Can Joe Burrow Help The Bengals O/U Team Win Odds Hit The Over?

  • The Cincinnati Bengals finished the 2019 season with a 2-14 record.
  • The Bengals are listed at +10000 odds to win Super Bowl 55.
  • Joe Burrow has -3000 odds to be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Bengals had a tumultuous 2019 season finishing at the bottom of the AFC North division and earning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft under first-year head coach Zac Taylor.

The Bengals can speed up the process of rebuilding by selecting Heisman trophy winner and LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the first pick in the Draft. Cincinnati will also have roughly $47 million dollars in cap space to add players in free agency.

Bengals O/U Win Totals For 2020

The Bengals roster will need a complete rebuild and sportsbooks have taken that into consideration when giving the Bengals an O/U win total of 5.5. The expected win total is a three-game improvement from the Bengals 2-14 record in 2019.

If the Bengals exceed the win total the odds are listed at -150 for the Over. However, the Under has profitable +120 odds. This year’s schedule will be easier for the Bengals as the Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Tennessee Titans are the only playoff teams from 2019 that the team will have to face.

The Joe Burrow Effect

The biggest factor in determining whether the Bengals will win at least six games during the 2020 season will be quarterback play. Cincinnati is expected to take Ohio native Joe Burrow with the first pick in the Draft.

U.S.sportsbooks have the quarterback at -3000 odds to be the first player taken off the board while the odds for another prospect to be taken No. 1 overall are at +1000.

Burrow could be the leader under center than turns around the Bengals franchise.

In his senior season at LSU he threw for 5,671 yards and an NCAA record 60 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to a National Championship. The Bengals already have a young core in running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Tyler Boyd. Adding Burrow to that mix could fix a lot of the problems plaguing the Bengals offense.

If the Bengals take Burrow with the first pick, they’ll instantly have the potential to exceed their win total projection and will already have a better quarterback than last year’s starter Andy Dalton.

The NFL Combine takes place from February 23 to March 2 and will be the first time the team and NFL bettors get to see Joe Burrow in action before the 2020 NFL Draft.
