Saquon Barkley Faces Hurdles To Return; Giants NFC East Odds Dropping

  • Saquon Barkley has not given a clear timetable for his return to action.
  • The New York Giants have +400 odds to win the NFC East division.

NEW YORK — Those looking to bet on the New York Giants got some concerning news recently regarding the return of running back, Saquon Barkley. Barkley recently came out stating that he had no clear timetable for his return to the field which leaves his availability for Week 1 of the season in jeopardy.

Barkley suffered a torn ACL early on in the 2020 season which forced him to miss 14 games. In an interview not long ago, Barkley did not give much of an update.

With there being no update on Barkley, many can believe that the backfield will be split between Devontae Booker and Ryquell Armstead, both of who served as third-string running backs in the 2020 season.

That being said, NFL sportsbooks have set the Giants odds to win the NFC East accordingly with the third-longest odds.

NFC East Odds To Win

  • Dallas Cowboys +130
  • Washington Football Team +220
  • New York Giants +400
  • Philadelphia Eagles +550

On paper, the New York Giants should be one of the most lethal offenses in the league, especially with the acquisition of Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney to play alongside Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram. However, without a starting-caliber running back on their team, their receiving core will not have much of an impact when competing against the other teams in the division.

Now, for those bettors who like taking riskier bets, they can take the Giants to win the NFC East and hope that Barkley does give an update on his status soon as if and when Barkley does return, this team could easily give the other teams in their division a run for their money.
