NFL Offensive ROY Odds; Joe Burrow The Early Favorite

  • Former LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow is favored to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
  • Jordan Love has +3300 odds to win the OROY award.
  • Tua Tagovailoa has the second shortest odds to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

LAS VEGAS — The NFL has been one of the sports leagues that hasn't had to postpone its regular season because of the coronavirus pandemic although it remains to be seen if the virus will impact the league any further.

The 2020 NFL Draft is scheduled to go on as planned with the event closed to the public. Before the Draft is one of the best times to bet on Rookie of the Year odds because the odds offer better returns than they would during the season.

Offensive Rookie of the Year Betting Odds

Joe Burrow (+225)

The NFL Draft is only weeks away and it seems certain that Joe Burrow will be the No. 1 overall pick going to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Heisman Trophy winner has +225 odds to add the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy to his collection. His odds right now present a moderate return and could be the best value on the prop all season as Burrow will likely have the most playing time of any rookie in the Draft.

The Bengals will have to add some talent on their offensive line and the defense needs a complete makeover. However, if Burrow shines and the Bengals get at least six wins his +225 odds will be a steal at the end of the season.

Tua Tagovailoa (+700)

Tua is the only rookie that could really challenge Burrow for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award but it depends on what team Tagovailoa is drafted by. In many mock drafts, Tua is slated to go in anywhere in the top six picks as a team may trade up for him or his injury history may be a reason of concern for some teams.

However, Tua’s talent when healthy is elite and if he was taken by a team like the Miami Dolphins it wouldn’t be long before he takes over the starting job from Ryan Fitzpatrick which would then give him the opportunity to challenge Burrow for the award.

His +700 odds are worth the dice roll but its best to wait until after the Draft to gauge what team he’ll play for.

D’Andre Swift (+750)

The Georgia Bulldogs running back D’Andre Swift is regarded as being the best at his position in the Draft and has the third shortest odds to win the award. Swift is a sleeper candidate especially if he doesn’t have to split backfield snaps with another running back wherever he’s drafted.

If he performs well and is a clear workhorse in the backfield for his team it’ll be easy to keep Swift in the Rookie of the Year conversation similar to the Josh Jacobs-Kyler Murray race from last season. Swift’s +750 odds are probably a better value than Tua’s simply because at his position he likely won’t be sitting for a year and will get playing time immediately.

Darkhorse Candidate

Jordan Love (+3300)

Jordan Love was a combine favorite as his athleticism is off the charts but what makes teams hesitant to draft him is his decision making on the field as he was among the NCAA leaders in interceptions thrown.

Love is a dark horse candidate because his +3300 odds could be worth it depending on where he lands. If a team like the Los Angeles Chargers take Love in the second round it wouldn’t be long before he could supplant Tyrod Taylor for the starting job.

Love’s odds are entirely dependent on his draft situation so he shouldn’t be bet on until after the Draft. He could be competing for a backup role first on whichever team he’s drafted on.

The NFL Draft will be one of the events that could shift the offensive Rookie of the Year odds. The Draft is still slated to take place from April 23-25.
