Vikings Heavily Favored To Win Division Over Packers

  • The Minnesota Viking are favored with +145 odds to win the NFC North for the 2020 season.

MINNEAPOLISThe Minnesota Vikings are now the favorite to win the NFC North this season as the team looks to have a very bright future ahead of them.

Last season was successful for the Vikings finishing 10-6 and second in the division behind the Packers.

Though the Packers ended last season first in the NFC North, oddsmakers seem to have more faith in the Vikings to take over this year. Originally, opening in favor of the Packers, recent news has caused the shift to occur.

Odds To Win NFC North

  • Minnesota Vikings +145
  • Green Bay Packers +240
  • Chicago Bears +400
  • Detroit Lions +400

The team will not have star receiver Stefon Diggs and a few top cornerbacks on the field this year but the team did draft players who could immediately fill in and impact the team.

In the draft, the Minnesota Vikings picked Justin Jefferson, a wideout out of LSU and cornerback Jeff Gladney in the first round. These two young players could truly affect the team’s success seeing that those will be the most interesting positions battles for the start to the season.

The Vikings have a trusted coach that just signed a three-year extension after coming off his third double-digit winning seasons and big hopes to lead the team to a Super Bowl win.

"We are excited to have Coach Zimmer continue to lead the Minnesota Vikings this season and beyond," said Mark Wilf, Vikings Owner/President. "We strongly believe in his leadership and the team culture he's fostered. We look forward to him furthering the team's success of the previous six seasons and leading us to our ultimate goal of bringing a Super Bowl Championship to Minnesota."

For the Green Bay Packers, it seems that this season may be the start of a possible regression for the team which is why NFL sportsbooks are putting more stock in the Vikings.

The team is coming off a productive season where they lost in the NFC championship but 8 of their 13 wins were by one score. Aaron Rodgers has gotten into the latter part of his career and even the Packers have drafted a successor for him in April.

This does not mean the season will be bad for the Packers but in the case of the top teams in the NFC North, many may bet on a young future over the old reputation.
