LOS ANGELES – In the afternoon slate of NFL Week 1, the Los Angeles Chargers are the largest favorite of the day against the Arizona Cardinals. This is the Chargers' home opener.

Super Bowl sportsbooks are giving the Chargers 9 points on the spread. The Cardinals averaged a -4.2 losing margin last season after finishing 3-14.

Jim Harbaugh, Chargers Statement Win

All signs point towards the Chargers' odds cashing in a big win here on California sportsbooks. The Cardinals were one of the worst teams in the NFL last season and are headed down that same path this season. They lost plenty in the offseason, which should show almost immediately in Week 1, including key defensive players like Calais Campbell, Dalvin Tomlinson, and Jalen Thompson, to name a few.

Aside from the addition of Jeremiyah Love in the draft, not much has changed compared to last year's bottom-10 offense.

For the Chargers, they added several pieces to the offensive line after Justin Herbert was sacked 54 times last season. Also, the offense should open up plenty more with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Justin Herbert is coming off a 3,727-yard and 26-touchdown season last year. McDaniel should open up the field for him even more.

Arizona was also a bottom-10 defense against both the pass and run last year. All said, this is an easy backing on Chargers -9.
