- Ja’Marr Chase is currently the -250 betting favorite to win the award.
- Mac Jones comes back with +200 odds as the OROY underdog.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Offensive Rookie of the Year race has been between two people for most of the season. With one week to go, one holds a sizable lead over the other.
Offensive Rookie Of The Year Odds
As it stands, Ja’Marr Chase is the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year over Mac Jones and the rest of the rookie class. With just one game left in the regular season, the odds on NFL betting sites are slanted heavily in Chase’s favor.
Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds
- Ja'Marr Chase -250
- Mac Jones +200
Chase is having a fantastic season as his 1,429 receiving yards rank fourth in the league, his 13 touchdowns ranks second in the league and his 18.1 yards per catch ranks first in the league. Aside from Cooper Kupp, there’s an argument to be made that Chase was the best receiver in the NFL.
Jones’ numbers, while impressive for a rookie, don’t really stack up to Chase’s. Jones is 13th in passing yards with 3,540, 13th in touchdowns with 21 and 10th in QBR at 54.2. In regards to who had the better season respective to their position, it’s not even close.
Can Mac Jones Win The Award?
There is surely a road for Jones winning Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly benching Joe Burrow as their spot in the playoffs is secure, and Chase could also be in the same boat, thus hurting his chances for the award.
Plus, it must be noted that Jones is a quarterback which historically carries a lot of weight in itself when it comes to end-of-the-season awards. However, those betting on the NFL will need to be careful when betting on Jones as there’s not much of an argument of if the two were on the same team who would benefit more than the other.
Chase has had one of the best rookie receiving seasons of all time while Jones has just been the best of a bad batch of quarterbacks.
