Bet High On The Fact Le’Veon Wants More Practice Time

  • The New York Jets traded for Miami Dolphins running back Kalen Ballage on Thursday.
  • Le’Veon Bell has -105 odds of recording over 850.5 rushing yards this season.
  • In his first season with the Jets, Le’Veon Bell rushed for 789 yards and three touchdowns.

NEW YORK — The New York Jets running back room got a little bit more crowded Thursday leaving bettors wondering what this means for running back Le’Veon Bell.

Jets head coach Adam Gase tapped into his former team the Miami Dolphins to make a trade for third year running back Kalen Ballage in exchange for conditional late-round picks.

Gase does have ties to Ballage as he was drafted by Gase when he was the Dolphins head coach with a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Bell’s first season with the Jets wasn’t what many expected as he only rushed for 789 yards and three touchdowns. New York adding Ballage in the midst of Bell’s tension with the team is certainly a development to keep an eye on if betting on the Jets or considering using Bell in DFS leagues this upcoming season.

Bell disputing the Jets injury report via social media could’ve led to Gase pulling a trigger on this trade.

The tension between Bell-Gase could result in the latter trading away the disgruntled running back if a team meets the Jets asking price. Despite the looming fact bettors should expect a breakout season from Bell still. Bovada has posted individual odds on how the Jets running back will perform this season.

Le’Veon Bell 2020 Regular Season Rushing Yards

  • Over 850.5 -105
  • Under 850.5 -125

The Over for this prop is the best bet. No matter if Bell is traded to another team or stays with the Jets he should be able to record over 850.5 yards.

Although last year Bell only recorded 789 rushing yards the Jets didn’t have quarterback Sam Darnold for parts of the season. This offseason the Jets improved their offensive line adding center Josh Andrews and drafting Mekhi Becton, both are expected to make an immediate impact.

The continued development of Sam Darnold will also help Le’Veon Bell hit the over for this prop. If Darnold can continue to grow in the passing game it will open up more running lanes for Bell. Adding Ballage to the Jets should worry bettors taking the Over but if Bell is traded it's hard to see his talent not getting him over 850 yards.

The Jets are a team that could be better than most people expect and that could lead to Bell having a much better season than his first one in the big apple.
