HOUSTON – The AFC South is shaping up to be one of the more competitive divisions in the AFC and the NFL as a whole, with the top three teams all sitting at or under +300 odds to finish in first place.
Super Bowl sportsbooks are backing the Houston Texans to jump back into first place while the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts follow close behind. All three of them come in at plus money to win the division.

Since the conference was formed in 2002, it's been all evened out, with the Colts winning nine division titles followed by the Texans at eight, Titans with four, and Jaguars in last with three.
Texans Defense Holding Strong
Holding up the Texans' odds at the top of the AFC South board is their defense. This unit allowed the second-fewest points and least yards per game to opponents last season while the offense was top-15 in the league.
The offense gets a nice boost this season with David Montgomery added to the backfield mix and Tank Dell returning from injury at receiver. They also made several additions to the offensive line, including Wyatt Teller and Braden Smith, as well as adding Keylan Rutledge.
Jags, Colts Have Enough To Strike
Jacksonville is coming off its second division title in the last four years and the team's second-highest win total in history at 13-4. The Jags are running it back this season with no major offseason moves, with the exception of losing Travis Etienne. Trevor Lawrence is coming off a 4,000+ yard, 29 TD season and the Jaguars' odds are bullish on a repeat.
The Colts odds are tentatively in contention. Daniel Jones is returning from a torn Achilles; however, they traded away Michael Pittman Jr. and lost Braden Smith to the Texans. There are also questions surrounding the consistency of Alec Pierce and Josh Downs operating as the team's top two pass catchers, but Indianapolis recently added veteran Keenan Allen to their receiver room.
Titans Not In Contention Yet
While there is plenty to get excited about surrounding this squad, the Tennessee Titans odds to win the division do not correlate. Cam Ward is expected to take a jump in his second season, they added Wan’Dale Robinson and drafted Carnell Tate to the receiver room, and five new starters were signed on defense. This is still a young team trying to find its identity.
