Run Game Leads Kansas City
The Chiefs odds are strong following Andy Reid’s new run-heavy scheme. Kansas City ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, including 173 yards and a score from Kenneth Walker. It was clear that Walker was brought in to put some relief on Mahomes ' dual-threat ability following his torn ACL, and that’s exactly what happened, which led to a 31-10 win.
Mahomes did play well himself with 184 yards, two passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown.
If last week's Chiefs performance is any indication of how they’ll play against the Colts, the Indianapolis defense is in serious trouble with how they defended the run last week. The Colts lost 41-23 and saw Derrick Henry run for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Lamar Jackson also threw for 324 yards and another score.
Indianapolis’ offense looked slow in general outside of Jonathan Taylor’s 98 yards and 2 TD outing. They managed 251 yards of offense, however, Kansas City’s defense might be a tougher test than what the Ravens presented. That said, this is a good spot to back the Chiefs to cover the spread.
