Foles Taking A Backseat To Trubisky In Newest Bears QB Odds

  • The Chicago Bears starting quarterback job is still up in the air.
  • Nick Foles opened up the odds as the favorite to start Week 1 with -330 odds.
  • Mitchell Trubisky is now the favorite to be the Bears starter first with -120 odds.

CHICAGO – The ongoing race for the Chicago Bears starting quarterback job just got even more interesting and will continue to heat up more as the season gets closer.

Online sportsbooks have had themselves a field day with the odds for the Bears starting quarterback come Week 1.

Nick Foles was favored over Mitchell Trubisky when the odds first opened.

Foles led the odds at -330 while Trubisky was at +215.

Since then, the NFL sportsbooks have seen major action or have heard enough rumors to have the odds shifted in favor of Mitchell Trubisky being the starter come Week 1.

Bears Starting QB Week 1 Of 2020 Regular Season

  • Mitchell Trubisky -120
  • Nick Foles -110

This is a huge shift as many bettors were banking on Nick Foles to be the starter considering the Bears pushed to trade for Foles in the middle of his four-year $88 million contract.

Some might think that this is a hefty contract for a player that is going to be a backup and they are right.

Foles Vs. Trubisky

Mitchell Trubisky has been seen around the Chicago Bears organization as their franchise quarterback and rightfully so as they drafted him with the second overall pick in 2017.

However, some might think he has not lived up to his potential which is why the odds opened up in favor of Foles.

The fact that this is the view on him throughout the team could be another factor as to why his odds have shifted to the favorite.

Trubisky finished the 2019 season with below-average numbers, putting up 3,138 passing yards (21st), 17 touchdowns (27th), and 10 interceptions (18th).

Nick Foles, on the other hand, is a proven winner in the league as he has a Super Bowl Championship under his belt after winning in 2018.

Foles did have a rough 2019 season as he was injured and benched after playing just four games and has also not played a full season as a starting quarterback in his career.

Still, with all of these accomplishments in his career without even being the starter, it is easy to see why Foles’ odds opened up as the favorite.

It is entirely possible that the Bears give Trubisky a chance to prove himself before eventually benching him for Foles.

With that said, bettors should take Mitchell Trubisky as the starter come Week 1 unless a public announcement is made on the situation.
