Adam Gase and Dan Quinn Headline NFL Coaches On Hot Seat

  • New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has the shortest odds at +165 to be the next head coach fired.
  • The Houston Texans fired head coach Bill O’Brien on Monday.
  • Dan Quinn of the Atlanta Falcons has +185 odds to be the next coach to leave his post.

ATLANTA – The NFL head coaching carousel has started spinning four weeks into the regular season. The Houston Texans became the first team to fire their head coach (and GM) of this season by letting Bill O’Brien go on Monday.

The Texans parting ways with O’Brien isn’t as surprising as the timing of the ordeal and Houston certainly won’t be the only franchise to fire their head coach during the COVID-19 altered season.

NFL teams making changes at the coaching position this early in the regular season is rare but it’s not unheard of as some teams would rather make the changes sooner rather than later.

Bovada has listed an NFL specials prop bet on which coach will lose his job next.

Second Coach to Permanently Leave His Post Betting Odds

  • Adam Gase +165
  • Dan Quinn +185
  • Matt Patricia +375
  • Doug Marrone +2000
  • Anthony Lynn +2000
  • Vic Fangio +2000
  • Mike Zimmer +3500
  • Matt Nagy +3500

It’s no surprise that Adam Gase and Dan Quinn are at the top of the odds board for this prop as both coaches are leading 0-4 teams after the first quarter of the regular season.

NY Jets Head Coach - Adam Gase (+165)

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase leads the way with the shortest odds to be the next head coach removed from his position at +165.

The Jets have a semi-talented quarterback in Sam Darnold that would likely play better in a different system. Not only that, the Jets are the most penalized team in the NFL with 32 flags thrown against them this season.

The current Jets are a disaster and Gase hasn’t helped the franchise make the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Jets are in serious need of an overhaul and bringing in a new coach to get more out of Darnold and a budding star like Quinnen Williams on defense gives the next coach a solid foundation to build on.

If Gase does survive the entire season as New York’s coach it’d be surprising he’ll likely be gone before the halfway point of the season as indicated by his +165 odds.

Adam Gase and the Jets will attempt to notch their first win of the year this week when the Arizona Cardinals come to MetLife Stadium.

Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn (+185)

Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons are off to an 0-4 start this season and things don’t seem to be getting better anytime soon.

The theme of the Falcons this season has been blown leads as they’ve held a lead going into the fourth quarter of three of four games. The Falcons also have one of the worst defenses in the NFL as they give an average of 448.3 total yards per game and have given up an average of 36.5 points per contest both marks are second-worst in the league.

The Falcons shouldn’t be this bad with the offensive prowess they have, and bettors should take Quinn’s +185 odds to be the next coach fired over Adam Gase’s +165 odds.

The Falcons schedule does lighten up over the next few games as they face the Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings, but this is a team that invents ways to lose games. So, the best bet here is to take the odds on the Falcons losing their head coach his job.
