Buccaneers Favored To Win NFC South, All Teams Under +500

• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are favored to win the NFC South with +160 odds.
• There are +275 odds for the New Orleans Saints to win the NFC South.
• The Carolina Panthers' NFC South odds are +350.
• The Atlanta Falcons have the longest NFL South odds at +400.

TAMPA, Fla. – Although this is one of the closer divisional odds on the preseason NFL board, it comes that way as the NFC South is one of the weaker divisions in the NFL, which saw two of the last four division winners do so at an 8-9 record.

As things sit, Super Bowl sportsbooks are leaning on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to win their fifth division title in the last six seasons. All other teams sit under +500 odds, with the Atlanta Falcons coming in with the longest odds.

With this being a wide-open division, it goes both ways, as any team has the ability to win the NFC South while any team could very well come in last place also.

Buccaneers Back On Top

Of all four teams, the Buccaneers odds can be trusted the most given their ceiling is significantly higher than the rest of the field. Baker Mayfield is hands down the best QB in the division as well and helped lead them to 22.3 points per game last year, which led the rest of the field.

Mike Evans has now moved on to the San Francisco 49ers, and Emeka Egbuka is expected to step in as the team's new WR1. Vita Vea also re-signed to lead the efforts on defense.

Oddsmakers Trust Saints, Shough

There is plenty of faith being put in the Saints odds this season despite the questions that still surround this offense. Tyler Shough started 11 games last season and went for 2,384 yards, 10 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

The Saints are also dealing with injuries coming into the year in Jordyn Tyson and Alvin Kamara are both expected to miss time. Overall, this is still a young team and coming off a 6-11 finish last year, which was good for last place.

Panthers Not Favored To Repeat

Oddsmakers continue to fade the Panthers odds regardless of them winning their first division title since 2015 at an 8-9 finish. Carolina is bullish that this is the team to win it again and is running it back with the same offense led by Bryce Young, Tet McMillan, and company. They did make some key additions on defense in linebackers Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd, who will start immediately.

Through Carolina’s 8-9 finish, they suffered a -69-point differential and the bottom-five offense in the league.

Falcons A QB Away

Although cliché, Atlanta is a consistent QB away from being a serious contender in not just the NFC South, but the league as a whole. Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa are two of the more injury-prone and inconsistent QBs in the league today. Tua finished last season with a 37.5 QBR while Penix went for a 57.9 QBR in nine games.

If either of them could find some consistency, the Falcons odds could be extremely valuable, with arguably the best running back in the league in Bijan Robinson and a top-10 receiver in Drake London.
